FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT APPLICATION AND WEARING IT ON THE BODY
Can
you paint a penis with Deviant Liquid Latex?
Sure.
But it’s always a good idea to do a small test patch first to make sure
you’re not sensitive.
Can
Deviant Liquid Latex be used as a condom?
No.
Condoms are made from a different formulation of latex and are safety tested.
What
about hair?
Not
so good. It’s best to shave body hair or use Nair. It’s also OK to trim
body hair down to about 1/16” for easier removal of the latex.
Can
skin breath if it’s painted?
Yes.
The skin breathes under Liquid Latex. There’s nothing toxic in it to be
absorbed into the skin. It’s just like wearing a big rubber glove on the
body.
Do
you have to leave some skin uncovered so you won’t die?
No.
The skin breathes under the latex. It will gradually lift off the skin
as the body perspires and the skin breathes. It’s essentially the same
as a body wrap.
What
if you’re allergic to latex?
Then
DO NOT use Deviant Liquid Latex. Deviant Liquid Latex is primarily LATEX
and should not be used by anyone with an allergy to latex!
How
will you know if there’s an allergic reaction to Deviant Liquid Latex?
Always
do a small test patch on the skin before use. If the skin becomes red,
swollen and/or irritated then gently remove the latex, wash with soap and
water and discontinue use.
What
do you put on the skin before application?
We
suggest applying a liberal amount of any standard skin lotion, such as
Lubriderm, Keri, Nivea, etc. If Deviant Liquid Latex is going to be worn
for a long period of time or you anticipate perspiring a lot while wearing
it, lotion may be more lightly applied or may not be necessary. But, everyone’s
skin is different, so “better safe than sorry”.
How
many coats do you have to paint on?
We
recommend 3 or more coats to create a durable and opaque coverage.
How
long does it take to dry?
Depending
on the temperature and conditions, it generally takes 5 to 10 minutes per
coat to dry. Let each coat dry completely before applying the next. A hairdryer
will help speed up the drying process.
Do
I need to do anything special for photo shoots?
There
are a few extra steps for photo shoots:
1.
Use 4 or more coats. Strobe photography and stage lights will penetrate
the translucent latex and appear splotchy.
2.
Apply stardust in an area away from the camera. Stardust is a very
fine powder and will become airborne, causing star-like refractions in
the lens.
3.
Make sure the model(s) is warm and comfortable. It may take a while to
get the painting done and nothing will ruin a shoot like a cold, uncomfortable,
lightheaded, unhappy model.
Is
it hot to wear?
No,
it’s like a rubber glove. Whatever you would feel on the outside you’ll
feel on the inside. If anything, it may actually be a little cold with
a slight build up of perspiration underneath.
Does
it insulate from the cold?
No,
it’s not thick and foamed like a wetsuit. It’s thin like a rubber glove.
What
does it feel like to wear Deviant Liquid Latex?
Deviant
Liquid Latex will shrink about 3-4% as it dries. That will make it fit
snuggly. Sometimes there may be a very slight itching sensation for a few
minutes as it shrinks and your skin begins to breath underneath, but it
will subside quickly. Then it will feel like a rubber glove covering the
body… it will feel like you’re wearing clothes, but something very tight
and thin.
How
much does it take to cover a body?
Generally,
it takes one quart (32 ounces) to cover a full body, head to toe, in the
recommended 3 coats, often with a little left over.
How
long will it stay on?
Depends
on the conditions you’re wearing it in and your individual skin and body
type. Generally, it will last at least several hours before lifting from
the skin.
How
long can you safely wear it?
Indefinitely.
As long as you’re comfortable, you should be safe. Your skin will breath
under the latex.
Is
it safe on the face and/or pubic area?
Yes,
generally, as long as you do a test patch and have no negative reactions.
Be sure to keep the latex out of eyes, nose, ears and all internal body
cavities.
What’s
the best way to apply Deviant Liquid Latex?
Use
a foam brush or foam roller for smooth, even application. Deviant Liquid
Latex dries quickly on brushes, so be sure to have a good supply of fresh,
clean foam brushes. An airbrush, we’ve been told, is a great application
method, but you have to now which type of airbrush to use. Deviant Liquid
Latex can also be applied with the hands, but won’t get smooth results.
Can
I use a bristle brush to apply it with?
We
don’t recommend it. Bristle brushes will leave streaks and ridges. Deviant
Liquid Latex dries very quickly on brushes and you’re likely to ruin the
brushes in a hurry.
ABOUT REMOVAL
How
does it come off?
It
just peels off from a relatively smooth body that has been lotioned beforhand.
Will
it pull out body hair?
Not
most very fine hair, if the skin is prepared properlywith lotion. If there’s
a moderate amount of hair, it will definitely pull on the hair, much like
duct tape would.
How
does it come out of longer body hair if it gets in it?
Jump
in a hot shower or bath and use soap to gradually work the latex off. Deviant
Liquid Latex won’t dissolve in water, but the moisture of the soap and
water will allow it to release from the skin much easier. Be sure not to
clog the drain with the latex after removal.
ABOUT PRODUCT USES AND FORMULATION
Can
you use Deviant Liquid Latex to make molds?
Yes.
In fact, Deviant will soon be introducing additives to help harden the
latex and speed the drying time.
Can
the colors be mixed?
Yes,
you can mix colors out of the jar to create custom tones. Deviant also
sells concentrated color pigments to add to Liquid Latex.
Can
you spray it on with an airbrush?
Yes.
Use a brush capable of heavier viscosity outputs, such as an automotive
touch-up brush. Paasche makes some brushes that work well with Deviant
Liquid Latex. Generally the latex will need no thinning. Be sure to keep
the pressure low to avoid injury and the tip of the gun clean so it doesn’t
clog.
What
makes Deviant Liquid Latex better than other the other liquid latex?
Deviant
has devoted a great deal of time to extensive product development. We have
formulated Deviant Liquid Latex to be the shiniest, smoothest, stretchiest
and most richly and vibrantly colored liquid latex possible. We are constantly
working on ways to advance our current products, develop new products,
enrich our packaging and promote our name on our product lines. See our
product
specification sheet for more details on the Deviant advantages.
Do
you have “glow in the dark” liquid latex?
Not
yet. Phosphorescent, or “glow in the dark” pigments have a chemical composition
that acts as a curing agent when mixed into liquid latex. So, if we added
phosphorescent pigments in our factory, it would be a solid chunk of glowing
rubber by the time it got to you. Deviant is currently considering marketing
a phosphorescent pigment that would be sold separately and could be added
to the latex by the user.
What
is Stardust?
Deviant
Stardust is a finely ground mica powder that is brushed over the surface
of dried Liquid Latex. Mica is a natural element that is used in many popular
cosmetic products. Stardust is used as a finishing product to keep the
dry latex from sticking together and ripping and also creates brilliant
metallic or pearlescent effects on the surface of latex, leather or directly
on the skin. Stardust can be used as an alternative to Slick polish.
What
is Slick polish?
Deviant
Slick Polish is a silicone-water emulsion that can be used to polish dull
latex and other surfaces. Slick is similar to Armor-All® but contains
no petroleum elements that could ruin latex. Use Slick as a finishing product
on the final, dried surface of Deviant Liquid Latex. Slick can be
used as an alternative to Stardust powder.
Why
do you have to use a “finishing product” (Stardust or Slick polish)?
Finishing
products such as Slick polish or Stardust powder are used on the final,
dried surface of Deviant Liquid Latex to keep it from sticking together
and ripping. Liquid Latex, after drying, will be tacky to the touch and
if two painted areas touch together, it will cause a “contact glue” effect,
causing it to rip or peel away from the skin.
Does
Stardust go on when the latex is wet or dry?
Dust
the Stardust on only after the latex has completely dried. Because it is
such a fine powder, It will slightly embed itself on the surface of the
latex. Then you can wipe away the excess with your hands or a cloth.
Can
you wear the latex again after it’s been taken off?
Deviant
Liquid latex is generally a one-time-use product if painting it on the
body. After peeling it off, it will usually tear, stretch out, and/or crumple
up and stick together. Deviant Liquid Latex can be painted over some fabrics,
especially denim or Lycra, if you would like rewaerable latex clothes.
How
thick is it after 3 coats?
Depending
on how thick you paint it on, the latex will usually be about the same
as wearing two rubber gloves.
Does
it come in different flavors?
No,
just one… rubber. If you don’t like chewing on condoms or rubber surgical
gloves, you won’t like the taste of dried Deviant Liquid Latex. We have
made a conscious decision NOT to flavor Deviant Liquid Latex because we
want to strongly discourage people from putting it in their mouths or ingesting
it.
Is
it edible?
No.
Deviant Liquid Latex is non-toxic, but you definitely wouldn’t want to
take any chances. It would taste terrible, anyways.
ABOUT ORDERING (AND OTHER QUESTIONS)
Can
I ask a dumb question…?
Yes.
Do
you have an online order form?
No.
Deviant puts an extraordinary effort into promoting sales through our local
retailers. However, we make our products directly available by mail for
people who may not have a local retailer in their area yet. Adding an online
order form may give the impression that we are a retailer and we don’t
want to be in competition with the retailers we so adamantly support.
Is
it the same price in the retail stores?
Every
store sets their own price for Deviant Liquid latex. Our online prices
may be slightly less, but the additional shipping charges will usually
put the cost at just about the same as most stores.
What
if I don’t have a credit card?
Credit
cards are the preferred method of payment, but we also accept prepayment
by check or money order. Those orders must first be approved with all shipping
costs added and the shipment will be sent only after the check has cleared
the bank. Our newest option is Paypal (www.PayPal.com)…
consider registering with them for payments!
Can
Deviant come to our event to paint people?
Usually
not. We are very busy in the production and promotion of our products and
there just isn’t enough time to personally attend all the fantastic events
out there. However, we do make exceptions for such things as: events or
promotions that might be of exceptional promotional value to us, certain
paid gigs (movies, large events/parties, etc), a really good cause that
we’re particularly fond of, or something that’s really fun (and we can
make a working vacation out of it). We’ll be happy to help you get set
up to paint at your own event, though.
Can
I resell Deviant Liquid Latex?

Can
I represent Deviant Liquid Latex in my area?
Deviant
offers incentives to people who refer new accounts to us. Generally, we
don’t employ representatives, but we are always open to ideas for the promotion
of our products.
Can
I have a free sample to try Deviant Liquid Latex?
Probably
not. That is, unless you can convince us that you’re going to buy a huge
quantity from us pretty soon or you have some equally inspiring story.
Everyone wants free samples of the very popular Deviant Liquid Latex, and
if we were to accommodate everyone, we’d go broke. We will make exceptions
for potential resellers, though.
Is
that you I saw on TV?
Probably
so… Deviant is owned and operated by Jerry and Yana, VERY busy husband
and wife partners. They do almost all of their own promotions and interviews,
so if you saw liquid latex anywhere in the media, you probably saw Jerry
and Yana and the well publicized Deviant name.
When
is Deviant going public (selling stock)?
Probably
never. But, "never say never", as they say. Deviant does have some unique
and extraordinary short term, high return investment opportunities, however.
If you’re very serious and have at least $5K capital to invest, you may
want to examine our proposals.
